Hong Kong and Malta in discussion over double taxation agreement

22nd January 2010 - Malta aims to enter into a double taxation agreement with Hong Kong, one of the most highly regarded financial centres in the world. Technical discussions are to start in March, making Malta the only EU country in southern Europe to have a double taxation agreement with Hong Kong.

Through such an agreement, Malta is seen as a convenient door to southern Europe and North Africa for Hong Kong, which is seeing economic expansion of eight per cent annually in certain sectors.
