Malta Tax Revenues in 2010

The Malta National Statistics Office confirmed that domestic tax revenue increased by €54.6 million in 2010 to €2,048.9 million. The total tax revenue represents 33.2% of Malta’s GDP – down from 34.2% in 2009. Such tax revenues comprise receipts from indirect taxes, direct taxes and social security contributions.  All three categories of tax revenue increased in 2010 with indirect taxes (primarily VAT) registering the largest increase of €22.6 million and now representing 41.8% of total tax revenues.
