Transport Malta revises the fees payable on the registration of ships and yachts under the Malta flag and for other ancillary services with effect from the 1st June 2011

31/05/2011

Registration Fees and Tonnage Tax

By virtue of Legal Notice 170 of 2011 the fees payable to the Merchant Shipping Directorate in respect of the registration of vessels have been revised and become effective on the 1st June 2011. The fees vary depending on the category of the vessel and are calculated in accordance with the vessel’s length, age and tonnage. The fees applicable to fishing boats and other small crafts have remained unchanged.

Ancillary Services

The revision of the fees for ancillary services has been established by Legal Notice 169 of 2011. The ancillary services that have been affected include: registration of any change in the ownership of a registered ship, registration of mortgages, the issue or revalidation of STCW endorsement certificates, issue of a continuous synopsis record and the issue of transcript or extract of the register of any vessel.
